The licensed local team behind Plumbers In Prospect
Who we are

The people behind
every Prospect job

Plumbers In Prospect is the local face of a licensed plumbing team working the Cumberland Plain. Heavy clay over the hardest ground in Sydney, which shapes what goes wrong and, more to the point, what it costs to put right.

A licensed plumber for the Cumberland Plain, not a call centre.

Ring and a plumber picks up at whatever hour. Nothing gets handed to whoever is cheapest that afternoon, and no invoice arrives carrying items nobody mentioned.

The thing we most want to get right out here is not overselling a hole in the ground. On this soil the excavation is usually the expensive and uncertain half of any job, and a quote that ignores that is not a price, it is the start of a negotiation you will lose once the yard is open. We would rather put the assumption in writing beforehand.

Licensed, insured & accountable.

Licensed & registered

NSW Plumbing Licence 368473C, with every job worked to the Australian Standards, gas and water alike. Unlicensed plumbing is illegal in this state and it voids a home insurance claim, so the number is worth asking any trade for. Ours is on the quote before you agree.

Insured & to standard

Public liability and workmanship cover are both held, along with Master Plumbers Association NSW membership. The lifetime workmanship warranty is a document you keep rather than something somebody says at the door and nobody writes down.

Publicly reviewed

The Google reviews here belong to Dr Leak Plumbing, our sister brand. Same owners, same licensed crews, same vans. Pointing you at genuine reviews under another name was more honest than producing a fresh set under this one.

Built by a plumber, run like it.

A licensed plumber started this in 2020 after more than a decade of Sydney work. One van became a team on three rules that have not shifted: arrive when you said, agree the price first, leave the place as you found it.

Working this ground added a fourth. Put the unknown in writing. Out here the unknown is what is under the yard, and a quote that stays silent about it is quietly handing that risk to the customer. We would rather state the assumption, state what changes if it is wrong, and let somebody decide with their eyes open.

“If I wouldn't be happy with the fix in my own home, it's not finished. That's the whole job.”

What shapes plumbing in Prospect.

Most of Sydney sits on sedimentary rock. This does not, and almost everything that makes work here different comes from that.

1
Sydney's largest body of igneous rock is here

Prospect Hill is a dolerite laccolith rising 117 metres at Pemulwuy, forced between the sandstone and shale beneath the Cumberland Plain.

2
It is quarried for road base for a reason

The quarry here has produced more crushed rock for Sydney construction than any comparable quarry, because the material is hard and tough.

3
So excavation changes character with depth

Straightforward through topsoil and clay at 400mm, and a genuinely different job at 800mm, in the same hole on the same day.

4
And the clay above has its own problem

Dolerite weathers to heavy clay that shrinks and swells with moisture, working old pipe joints apart a fraction at a time over decades.

5
Which is the usual reason drains here block on a cycle

Once a joint has opened, roots find it and soil washes in. Clearing it treats the symptom rather than the opening.

6
So no-dig is worth more here than most places

A liner is installed through existing access and never breaks ground, which removes the single largest uncertainty in the price.

How we work.

1
A licensed plumber answers, any hour

Ring at three in the morning and you reach somebody who can get in a van, not a service holding your details until the office opens.

2
We locate before we open

On this ground the number of holes is the number that matters, so detection is the cheapest line on the invoice rather than the one to skip.

3
Assumptions written down

Any excavation quote states what it assumes about depth to rock and what changes if that is wrong. Before you agree, not after.

4
And both options priced

Digging and lining, side by side, so the comparison is yours to make on real numbers rather than on which one we would rather sell.
